Footage from the affected areas showed power lines surrounded by knee-deep water, overturned cars and ground floors of buildings flooded as torrential rain swept through the city.
Rainfall totals reached 250 to 280 millimeters in some locations, highlighting the intensity of the downpour as the remnants of Typhoon Saudel continued to affect northeastern Fujian.
Rain also continued across southern China, while responders focused on clearing debris and assessing the damage caused by the flooding.
The flooding in Ningde comes amid a pattern of intense seasonal storms, with heavy rainfall creating significant disruption across affected areas.
